Lancashire opportunity to Ride The Route ahead of Lloyds Tour of Britain Women
Cyclists will be able to experience some of the best parts of two stages of the Lloyds Tours of Britain route in two official Lloyds Tour of Britain Ride The Route sportives.
The sportives will take place ahead of Britain’s biggest professional cycle races. The first takes place on Sunday 16 August 2026, starting from the Stonyhurst College in Ribble Valley before heading out into the stunning Lancashire countryside.
The second Ride The Route sportive follows on Sunday 30 August 2026, setting off from Thirsk Racecourse and taking riders on a Moors to Dales route through some of the stunning landscapes of North Yorkshire.
The expansion of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Ride the Route series follows the success of the 2025 sell-out edition which started and finished at the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales in Newport, just one day ahead of the professional riders departing from the same venue.
Supporting British Cycling’s vision to bring the joy of cycling to more people, the sportive ahead of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women will cover parts of stage two of this year’s race which runs between Clitheroe, through Ribble Valley, and finish in Blackpool. Riders can choose between a short 71.4km route or a more demanding 110.9km route for those seeking a tougher challenge in the Lancashire hills.
The second sportive takes place a few days before the elite men’s race and follows the same challenging sections of the North Yorkshire stage – Helmsley to Leyburn – as the professionals. Riders can choose from three routes: short (56.8km), medium (93.3km) or long (183.9km), with the longest route taking in iconic Yorkshire Dales scenery, including Grassington, Buckden and Leyburn.
