Eden Project Morecambe site preparations begin
Preparation for the Eden Project Morecambe Bring Me Sunshine Garden began today (Tuesday 25 August) as hoardings went up around the vast site marking a new phase of progress on the landmark transformational project.
The Bring Me Sunshine Garden was first exhibited at the world famous 2026 RHS Chelsea Flower Show where it gained both the prestigious RHS Environmental Innovation Award and Silver-Guilt medal.
The 1.5 acre free-to-enter community garden is a massively upscaled version of the original design and is being permanently relocated to Morecambe’s seafront where it will create a welcoming gateway to the main Eden Project Morecambe site.
The garden will feature dedicated community planting beds for people to till and enjoy alongside a showcase of resilient coastal pink, yellow and vibrant blue plantings to shape a beautifully reimagined green space connecting the sea to the land.
This remarkable site sits at the heart of Morecambe Bay and is set to open in spring 2027 offering people a place to gather, learn and reconnect with the natural world. It will give people an early opportunity to experience Eden Project Morecambe ahead of the main site opening in late 2028.
Site preparation marks another momentous phase and follows the successful Eden Project Morecambe Hub opening at the iconic Winter Gardens. Attended by hundreds of Morecambe residents since opening on 15 August, now every Friday from 10am to 2pm, members of the Eden Project Morecambe team will throw open the hub doors to welcome visitors, answer questions and share project news.
Work by locally based Assembly Arts Photographic Collective featuring images of the Eden Project Morecambe site before its transformation is being showcased as part of the Hub opening. The exhibition offers a unique glimpse capturing a pivotal moment of Morecambe history and reflects local creative responses to the new Eden Project. New exhibits are set to be introduced in the hub to connect people with the evolving story and project impact over time.

This first phase of preparatory work coinciding with the hub opening, website and dedicated newsletter launching together with Eden Project Morecambe’s own social media channels (Facebook and Instagram) demonstrates clear momentum.
Eden Project is working in partnership with Lancaster City Council, Lancashire County Council and Lancaster University and is supported by UK Government investment to deliver a project that is on track to fully open in 2028.
Eden Project Morecambe is being delivered by the world-renowned educational charity Eden Project being celebrated this year through the 25th‑anniversary of the Eden Project in Cornwall, which has generated £6.8 billion in total economic impact to the South West since opening in 2001.
Once complete, Eden Project Morecambe will transform Morecambe’s central promenade into a vibrant, year-round attraction, delivering long-term social, environmental, cultural and economic benefits for Morecambe, Lancashire and the wider North West.
