13 October 2016

The World Bread Awards 2016, sponsored by Tiptree and Brook Foods took place in mid September at Cathedral Hall in Westminster, London. Over 600 bread products were presented for judging by 90 judges.

On October 12th, Artisan Foodworks were awarded a Silver Award for their Pain de Campagne, which is a traditional sourdough recipe and one of their best sellers to retailers in Sefton and West Lancashire.

Artisan Foodworks is a specialist bakery from Burscough who were named as one of the top 10 Artisan bakers in Lancashire in 2014 in Lancashire Life magazine and a top twenty bakery in Great Britain by the Daily Telegraph in January 2016. They are also finalists in the forthcoming Lancashire Tourism Awards, nominated for the Lancashire Producers and Makers Award. Winners will be announced at an award ceremony at Blackburn Cathedral on 10th November 2016.

Artisan Foodworks are producers of Real Bread, which is bread made from natural ingredients without food processing aids found in mass produced products.

Artisan Foodworks Director Julie Peeks said: “ We are thrilled that the judges were able to award us Silver for our Pain de Campagne especially against such notable competition from around the UK”

“Our key aims are to use traditional techniques for our bread making and ensure we do not use unnecessary processing aids in our products and the meat in our pies is from Farm Assured supplies. It is great to be recognised for all our efforts and we would like to thank the judges and sponsors for the Award”

Artisan Foodworks are also known for their high quality pies, cakes and traybakes made from only natural ingredients and using local suppliers wherever possible. Artisan Foodworks products are retailed at Merlin’s Bakery Café on Merlin Park, Ringtail Road, in Burscough. They also supply cafes, tea shops, delis, farm shops, restaurants and hotels in the local area.
