THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE – BEST TOURISM EVENT

Lancashire and Blackpool Tourism Awards 2011/12

The Lancashire and Blackpool Tourism Awards 2010/11 take place on Thursday 22 September 2011, at the Paradise Room, Pleasure Beach Resort, Blackpool and will be presented by Lancashire lass and West End singing sensation, Jodie Prenger.

Amongst these most coveted tourism accolades will be a special award voted for by the public – Best Tourism Event of the Year. Over 20,000 identified visitors to Lancashire were invited to vote for their top tourism event via visitlancashire.com  from an amazing array of experiences including festivals and fireworks, music and foodie events, scarefests and family fun days.

Voting has now closed and Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board (LBTB) and visitBlackpool are pleased to announce that the three finalists for the Best Tourism Event of the Year 2011/12, sponsored by Fat Media Ltd, Lancaster are:

Battle of Britain 1940s Weekend, Lytham

Blackpool Illuminations

Clitheroe Food Festival

Mike Wilkinson, LBTB Managing Director said:

“All our finalists in this category can consider themselves winners, as they have achieved the top three positions in a public vote, from a strong list of events that took place over the last twelve months. However, there can only be one overall winner and they will go on to represent Lancashire in the national finals. We look forward to revealing the Best Tourism Event of the Year and celebrating the success of Lancashire and Blackpool at next week’s glittering tourism awards. ”

Natalie Wyatt, Head of visitBlackpool said:

We would like to wish all the finalists the best of luck. The county produces some fantastic and diverse events throughout the year and everyone nominated should feel especially proud.  None more so than Blackpool Illuminations who were gold winners in 2010 bringing home the national award.”

The overall winner of the Best Tourism Event of the year will be announced at the Lancashire and Blackpool Tourism Awards 2011/12 at the Paradise Room, Pleasure Beach Resort, Blackpool on Thursday 22 September 2011.

It will be one of 17 awards presented that evening by guest presenter Jodie Prenger.
