City-wide fashion event returns

9 April 2015

The city’s biggest fashion showcase, Preston Fashion LIVE, returns to St George’s Shopping Centre on Friday, April 10.

Retailers from across Preston will help shoppers spring forward into the new season, showcasing the latest styles from petals to metals and bold to beautiful.

Those hitting the catwalk include high street favourites such as Topshop, Miss Selfridge, French Connection and Marks and Spencer along with a host of independent retailers.

Attendees will be treated to a two-hour runway show starting from 12 noon, hosted by Heart Radio’s breakfast show presenter Lorna Bancroft. Styled models will unveil the latest spring collections for all ages, with top tips for how to stay ahead this summer too.

General Manager at St George’s Shopping Centre, Andrew Stringer said: “Preston Fashion LIVE, now in its second year, brings the city’s finest retailers together for a spectacular pop-up fashion show.

“Following in the successful footsteps of our seasonal events and annual Student Shop-In, Preston Fashion LIVE is a testament to how retailers can work together to create a fashion-focused showcase, which we are sure will become a key event in the city calendar.”

Poppy Waters, previously a fashion and marketing student at UCLan and now owner of Mary and Milly on Guildhall Street is a new sign-up to Preston Fashion LIVE.

She commented: “We are a vibrant, independent brand and this event gives us a great platform to express our point of difference.

“Our designs feature original items which can be teamed with accessories giving shoppers the opportunity to dress to impress or simply wear casually.

“We’ve seen first-hand how bespoke events can really boost trade and so it’s pleasing to see the city’s businesses pull together to show what we have to offer. Further events such as this will help drive people to explore the side streets adding to Preston’s shopping experience.”

Bethany McGlinn of Miss Selfridge, situated in St George’s Shopping Centre, added: “We are always keen to pledge support to events that drive awareness of our offer to shoppers.

“Fashion shows can vary in quality but the team at St George’s has a fantastic reputation for putting on events which really draw the crowds so we are obviously pleased to be involved.”

Preston Fashion LIVE is a free event taking place on Friday, April 10 at Preston’s St George’s Shopping Centre on the lower Friargate mall. No ticket necessary. The runway show will take place from 12 noon- 2pm.
