Freemasons at Wiswell launches Mr Smith’s and bedrooms
The Freemasons at Wiswell has opened the doors to its new luxury accommodation offering, alongside its new kitchen extension and Mr Smith’s Kitchen Table and Bench, giving guests the opportunity to dine in the heart of the kitchen.
Located in the heart of the Ribble Valley, The Freemasons at Wiswell has enjoyed a gluttony of accolades in recent years, including The AA Restaurant of the Year, No.3 in the Top 50 Gastropubs and Gastropub Chef of the Year as well as a recent 39th spot in the Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards Top 100.
Over the last nine months, work has been undergoing on a kitchen extension, the creation of a new dining space and the refurbishment of two cottages next door, to create four luxury bedrooms. To coincide with the launch of the new kitchen, Chef Owner Steven Smith has launched a selection of new menus, which embrace summer flavours and ingredients and the best local produce.
Mr Smith’s Kitchen Table seats up to 12 and is located within view of the kitchen. It’s been created to provide a unique experience for guests, to be used however suits – from a night out with friends, to trying the latest tasting menu or celebrating special occasions. Requiring a minimum of six to book, it’s an inclusive, welcoming, premium space.
Steven explains; “We wanted to create something totally unique to The Freemason’s and with Mr Smith’s, we believe that’s what we’ve done. Guests can now choose between the main pub, where they’ll enjoy a fantastic experience, or Mr Smith’s, which goes that extra mile, with personalised music, screens and menus if that’s what the guests want. The design is very different to the rest of the pub and we believe we can now offer guests the best of both worlds, with the same level of service across the two different environments.
In addition to Mr Smith’s table is the Kitchen Bench. Created for those who like to be in the thick of it, the Kitchen Bench offers four stools in front of the kitchen, enabling guests to watch their meal made from scratch. Guests also have the option to choose a Carte Blanche menu, which will see them try previously unsold dishes still in development.
The launch of four luxury bedrooms is further demonstration of The Freemason’s ambition to become a destination venue, offering a slice of country refinement in the chocolate box village of Wiswell. Mr Fox and Mr Hare are both located on the first floor, offering Super King Size beds, a mezzanine floor with roll-top bath and dressing room, en-suite bathroom and luxury accessories including towels, dressing gowns and slippers. Prices for both start from £220 per night and include breakfast.
Grouse and Partridge are located on the ground floor, offering the same level of timeless luxury but without the mezzanine floor. Pets are allowed to stay in both Grouse and Partridge. Prices start from £160 per night.

We’re surrounded by beautiful countryside, with a whole host of places to visit nearby and we believe our bedrooms offer the utmost in luxury, providing the perfect place to stay when making the trip to Lancashire. We’ve paid meticulous attention to detail to ensure every element has been considered and are confident we can now cater for foodies who want to dine at The Freemasons but are travelling from afar. And this is just the start. We have another four bedrooms on the way and plans for more in the near future, so we have a lot to be excited about!
