GROUPS and organisations across Chorley can get a welcome boost to their funds, thanks to Chorley Council.

The council is offering grants of up to £500 each to groups in the voluntary, community or faith sector operating in the borough.

Eligible groups have until Friday 28 June to apply for small community grant funding with application forms available on the council’s website, chorley.gov.uk

Councillor Bev Murray who is responsible for community development at Chorley Council, said: “We’ve put a pot of money aside to help these groups in the borough because they do vital work in our community and we’re keen to support them.

“We’re looking for groups who enhance the life of people in Chorley in a number of ways like providing recreational activities or helping to keep their neighbourhoods clean. These are just two examples and I would urge groups to visit the council website for more information and get your applications in as soon as possible.”

Groups applying for the funding must meet the following criteria:
• They must be a voluntary, community, faith sector group operating within the borough of Chorley
• Individuals can’t apply for funding
• The organisation must have a group bank account
• The organisation or project must be based on local need
• The money must be spent between 1 September 2019 and 28 February 2020.

The deadline for applications to be received by the council is Friday 28 June 2019.

Last year, groups including Chorley Couch to 5K, Chorley Boxing Club, Friends for you Adlington, Chorley Safe Space and Adlington Scout Group benefitted from the small community grant funding.
