Don’t panic, this year’s county-wide celebration of the very best in tourism isn’t on hold, it has simply found a new venue; one that is best known for hosting the hottest ice show in the UK.  Today, the awards organisers,Marketing Lancashire, announced that the Lancashire Tourism Awards 2019 will be held on Thursday 7 November at the Pleasure Beach Arena, Blackpool supported by Headline Sponsor, University of Central Lancashire and Host Sponsor VisitBlackpool.

Pleasure Beach Arena was built in 1936 and was designed by the famous architect, Joseph Emberton and is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s oldest purpose-built ice arena.  The Arena has played host to many events and concerts, including Nickelodeon’s amazing SLIMEFEST show, the annual Blackpool Ice Skating Festival and the spectacular, award-winning Hot Ice Show.

Rachel McQueen, Chief Executive of Marketing Lancashire said “The Lancashire Tourism Awards is the only county-wide industry awards, celebrating those tourism businesses that have demonstrated outstanding performance over the past 12 months.  It is therefore entirely fitting that we pull out all the stops and provide an unforgettable night for our finalists.   We’re working closely with the creative team at the Arena to do just that.”

“The shortlist is always a who’s who of amazing Lancashire tourism and hospitality businesses and this year will be no exception – we wish all our finalists the very best of luck.”

The Lancashire Tourism Awards 2019 finalists will be announced later this month, following a detailed shortlisting process that includes mystery shopping for some of the categories.
