27 June 2017

The Dukes has secured another four years of funding from Arts Council England(ACE).

The Lancaster theatre is one of a wide-ranging group of organisations to be included in ACE’s National Portfolio, announced today, and will receive a total of £256,190 each year from 2018-2022.

The Dukes has a turnover of more than £2 million and earns more than 70% of its income from ticket sales, bars and catering together with support from Friends, Patrons and Guardians through membership and fundraising events.

Ivan Wadeson, Chief Executive of The Dukes said “This is a great vote of confidence in The Dukes and in the hard work of the team. Thanks to all staff, volunteers and our loyal supporters in helping make this happen.”

The National Portfolio includes organisations across England of all sizes and scales who ACE believe will bring new energy to the arts and cultural sector while reaching more people in more places than ever before.

Some portfolio organisations are well established nationally or internationally, like the Royal Shakespeare Company, while others are just starting out.

The Dukes, which is Lancashire only building based professional producing theatre, also receives funding from Lancaster City Council, Lancashire County Council, Lancaster University and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
