Morecambe Bistro Celebrates Record-Breaking Third National Award

22 November 2018

For any discerning food lover these days it’s all about “keeping it local” for savouring not just succulent food, but also exceptional service and sustainability.  Raising a glass to that, local eatery “Aspect Bistro” are celebrating winning a national award for their outstanding local commitment and customer recognition.

Based at the Lothersdale Hotel on Morecambe Promenade, the cocktail bar and bistro is headed by husband and wife team Paul Bury and Judy Edmondson.  With 25 years’ experience in hotel management, in 2012 they took over the Bury family business.

Benefitting from the best views in the region, with a balcony looking directly over Morecambe bay, they knew the Bistro deserved to be something really special and their locally sourced menu soon caused a splash.  With quality rustic British dishes, grill and pizza specialities, and of course freshly caught local seafood, guests kept returning to enjoy these tasty treats as well as speciality afternoon teas.

The Food Awards England celebrates regional restaurateurs who consistently provide the best dining experience.  Candidates are initially chosen only from direct customer nominations, the sincerest accolade every restaurant desires to earn.  Judges then rigorously evaluate not just the food, but the ethos of the restaurant, including social responsibility, ingredient sourcing and sustainability, customer feedback and local community involvement including charity work.

Aspects is no stranger to these prestigious black tie awards. They won for inaugural “Best Bistro” in 2014, and 2015, then swept the board in 2016 with not only the regional and national award, but the evening’s prize draw as well!  However, after settling for finalists in 2017, they were keen to restore Morecambe’s pride.

So, it was celebrations all round in the Manchester Mercure Piccadilly Hotel as Paul, Judy and the team won not only the regional accolade of North West Bistro 2018, but the national title as well.

Paul said “It was just incredible to win both titles again.  Our diners are the most important thing, so knowing they voted directly for us really does mean the world to us.  It was quite a night as our meat suppliers, H Greaves and Son from Upholland, also won “Exceptional Restaurant Supplier of the Year”, so we know we’re serving the best quality ingredients and dishes.”

Paul, Judy and the team are determined to continue the philosophy that has earned Aspects Bistro such special affection from their customers:  “We know we have something unique here: when you relax on our balcony and realise your dish has come not many “food miles” but barely a few “sea yards”; you know you can’t get much fresher than that!”
