Royal Hotel Reopens with Extensive Refurbishments and Renovations.

14 December 2016

Located in the heart of Lancaster, The Royal Hotel & Latinos Tapas bar was a long established local landmark. The restaurant, for so long a popular haunt, had reduced its hours to mainly weekend opening and the interior and building was showing signs of needing some refurbishment and renovation.

Spotting an opportunity, The Robinson family stepped in and concluded a deal to buy The Royal in the Summer of 2016. With interests in a number of local businesses, having lived and worked in Lancaster and the South Lakes all their lives, in just 3 months they have turned the business around, leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to provide a family friendly venue and return The Royal back to the heart of Lancaster’s hospitality scene.

The renovation, originally anticipated to take four weeks, took nearly three months as the rooms and bar underwent extensive refurbishment and decorating. All the rooms now boast en-suite bathrooms and come equipped with luxury Sealy beds, free wi-fi, flatscreen TV, Nespresso Coffee machines and on-site parking is available.

The family were keen to ensure that the renovation work remained local, engaging tradesmen and suppliers in the Bay area to repair and renovate much of the original furniture while the fabrics, wallpapers, carpets and upholstery were sourced in and around Lancashire.

And the results speak for themselves. The Royal is fast re-establishing itself, with the hotel proving very popular, while the bar is forging a reputation for being the welcoming space the family wanted. The delicious platter menu and array of draught and bottled beers (including a variety of Lancaster’s very own from Lancaster Brewery), wines, spirits and soft drinks, complement the innovative membership scheme, with frequent offers ensuring people want to come back time and time again.

“The whole project has been a real family affair,” said bar manager Vikki Robinson. “As a family business, family friendly is in our nature. The most important thing is to create the right atmosphere and we will always strive to ensure a night at The Royal is memorable.”

The Royal Hotel & Bar is located on Thurnham Street, Lancaster and is now open 7 days a week. For hotel bookings and to join the membership scheme for discounts off food and drink and regular offers please visit the website www.theroyalhotelandbar.co.uk.
