Sandcastle Waterpark announces £500K refurb ahead of 40th Birthday
Blackpool’s Sandcastle Waterpark has announced a major £500,000 refurbishment programme as it prepares to celebrate its 40th birthday in June.
The refurbishment includes the complete redevelopment of the park’s changing village facilities, offering guests a brighter, more modern environment.

Alongside this, the waterpark famous slides have been freshly repainted and a brand‑new audio system has been installed.
Sandcastle Waterpark first opened its doors in 1986 and has since become one of Blackpool’s most iconic attractions, welcoming visitors from across the country.
It remains the country’s largest indoor waterpark, offering something for everyone – from thrilling white‑knuckle rides to family‑friendly splash zones. Guests looking for a more tranquil experience can unwind in the adults‑only Sea Breeze Spa.

Kyle Woodcock, General Manager of Sandcastle Waterpark, said: “This is a landmark year for us, and we wanted to mark our 40th birthday with improvements that our guests will really feel.
“The new changing village, refreshed look and upgraded audio system are all part of our ongoing commitment to providing a world‑class experience.
“We were able to open the first half of new changing village for the February school holidays and we received fantastic feedback on the new facilities. Every element – from floor to ceiling – has been replaced and it looks fantastic.
“We can’t wait to welcome visitors old and new to see the transformation and join in our 40th birthday celebrations.”
The refurbishment works are scheduled for completion ahead of the Easter holidays, with a full programme of birthday celebrations currently being planned.
Fylde Coast residents can benefit from up to 50% off admission.
