The Haçienda and Manchester Camerata come to Lancaster
On Sunday May 8th, a spectacular and truly ground-breaking show is coming to Lancaster at Williamson Park for a one-off outdoor performance of incredible magnitude.
Haçienda Classical is the first time that Haçienda DJs have performed with a live orchestra outdoors in a unique meeting of worlds in a beautiful location. FAC 51 The Haçienda and Manchester Camerata are collaborating with the DJs who shaped the club's famed sound – Mike Pickering and Graeme Park – for a night of Haçienda classics.
It can now be revealed that joining them are two fellow Haçienda icons who will be opening the show, leading up to the main event itself – Tom Wainwright and Russ Marland. From 1991-1994, Russ played before Mike at Shine, one of the venue’s regular sessions. And on Saturdays at the Haçienda, Tom was on warm up duties for Graeme Park from 1992-1996.
This is the first time since the ground-breaking club housed all four DJs under the same roof, who are now coming back together since their Manchester days at this truly stunning show on Sunday May 8th. The quartet helped shape one of the world’s most influential clubs, which is embarking on a mesmerising musical odyssey with the Manchester Camerata.
Mike and Graeme will bring the project to life, and are seen as essential figures in the evolution of dance music, from acid house through to the current club and festival scene, with the club’s DNA running through everything today. The renowned DJs will select and perform a continuous set of signature Haçienda tracks alongside the 40 strong orchestra in the innovative live fusion event which will see The Ashton Memorial transformed for the night by FAC 51.
This promises to be a truly spectacular live music event in a beautiful location.
