The Mayor of Pendle invites you to see inside Nelson Town Hall

5 January 2015

His Worship the Mayor of Pendle, Councillor Graham Roach, invites you to come with him on a specially guided tour of Nelson Town Hall.

Councillor Roach has two dates in early 2015 when you can come and see behind the scenes and find out about the building’s fascinating civic history.

They are on Saturday 31 January and Saturday 21 March.

The Town Hall tours also allows you to discover how the present day Pendle Council runs and what a modern day Mayor’s job entails.

Councillor Roach said:
“If you’ve ever wondered what lies behind the doors of the Town Hall, book yourself onto one of our tours.

“I’ve enjoyed taking part in the tours myself – and have even learnt a thing or two!”

Michael Booth, the Mayor’s Attendant, will be the guide for the free, two-hour long factual journey.
Visitors will be shown the old Police cells, the Council Chamber and civic insignia before having tea and biscuits in the Members’ Room.

Groups, such as Women’s Institutes, Brownies, Scouts and voluntary organisations, as well as individuals, are all welcome.

Up to 20 people can be accommodated on each tour and places must be booked in advance.

The deadline for bookings for the Town Hall Tour on Saturday 31 January is Friday 16 January.

The deadline for bookings for the Town Hall Tour on Saturday 21 March is Monday 9 March.

If you are interested in coming along on either of these Town Hall tours, please contact the Mayor’s Secretary, Fiona Standring, on (01282) 661636 or email her at [email protected].
