VisitBritain completes last year at BOBI

18 March 2011

Laurence Bresh, Director of Marketing at VisitBritain said:

“We have been a huge supporter of the Best of Britain and Ireland show and have now decided that it is time to pass this on into the capable hands of our strategic tourist board partners.

“The government has tasked VisitBritain with ramping up our global marketing to deliver a four-year match funded global campaign. Because of this we have refocused our objectives and as BOBI is first and foremost a domestic trade show, it does not fit within our plans.  We are looking at alternative methods of engaging overseas buyers with the UK trade and details will be announced shortly.

“This new focus reflects our priorities and is in line with our four-year funding settlement.  Our goal is to maximise the tourism opportunities of hosting the Royal Wedding, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 Games- we intend to deliver a lasting legacy for British inbound tourism.”
