Billy Ocean plus more confirmed for Lytham Festival

International R&B sensation Billy Ocean is to top the bill of Lytham Festival’s ‘80s V 90s’ themed night on Friday 7th August 2015 at Lytham Green. Ocean will be joined by other classic acts of the era with Chesney Hawkes, Jimmy Sommerville, East 17, Sinitta, 5ive and Vengaboys also turning back the musical clock. Also now confirmed is the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra joined by special guests Marti Pellow, Elaine Paige, Jonathan Antoine and Laura Wright who’ll take to the stage on Sunday 9th August. Between them Pellow and Paige share credits for theatrical hits including Evita, Blood Brothers, Hair and Cats, few other singers are better qualified to so expertly celebrate the theme of ‘Songs from Stage and Screen’. Earlier this summer Lytham Festival, formerly Lytham Proms, entertained a sell-out crowd of 50,000 fans with three nights of music at Lytham Green. Today the event is thrilled to reveal two of four nights planned for 2015 and their themes. The much-loved format returns with both pop and classical elements across the festival.
Friday 7th August welcomes the leg warmers, fluoro and sounds of both the 80s and 90s. Billy Ocean, Chesney Hawkes, Jimmy Sommerville, East 17, Sinitta, 5ive and Vengaboys will all take to the stage offering a trip down memory lane for many, expect a flashback to school disco days.
Sunday 9th August indulges the inner thespian via the theme of ‘Songs from Stage and Screen’. Two celebrated artists who are no strangers to the boards, Wet Wet Wet singer Marti Pellow and singer/actress Elaine Paige OBE will bring favourites from the West End and Broadway to life, backed by the superb Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Marti Pellow comments: "I'm just delighted to have been invited to perform on the last night of the Lytham Festival – it's going to be an amazing evening of some of my favourite songs of all time, it’s also a real privilege to be working with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra again. I know we’re going to end up creating something very special that night."

As previously announced Sunday will also see the return to Lytham Festival of Britain’s Got Talent tenor Jonathan Antoine. Also to take to the stage will be young soprano Laura Wright.

These latest announcements form part of Lytham Festivals 12 days of Christmas where each day another detail of the forthcoming event has been revealed. Furthermore, the latest pieces of the puzzle unveiled are part of Lytham Festival’s expansion plans for 2015 which sees the event span a whole week and encompass not just music but also comedy and literary elements for all ages across multiple venues in the local area.
