Excitement builds ahead of Chorley Live

30 September 2016

A BUZZ of anticipation is exciting Chorley, as organisers of the hugely popular Chorley Live (7-8 October) event have released details of the full schedule of acts that will be playing over the two-day entertainment extravaganza.

The event will see 236 performances across 30 venues over two nights in Chorley town centre bringing the community together for a fantastic weekend with people getting entry to all the venues over both nights via a wristband that costs just £5.

Chorley Council is again teaming up with the Creative Network to put on the fourth Chorley Live festival of music and entertainment, with this year’s event looking to top the 7,000 people that enjoyed last year’s event.

Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader of Chorley Council, said: “If you’re planning what to do at the weekend then make sure you come along to Chorley Live.

“Last year's event was enjoyed by people of all ages with families coming out too and the feedback we had was fantastic – if you didn’t come then you definitely missed out.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing some of the bands and there really is something for everyone from families’ right through to fans of metal and rock music.

“If you don’t normally go out in Chorley then I hope you’ll think about getting your wristband and supporting both the local event and town centre businesses.”

The event will see people able to gain entry into the venues using a wristband that will cost £5 (U12s free) enabling people to choose from 236 live performances on the Friday and Saturday evening.

Nigel Stewart, of the Creative Network and who has organised the acts, said it will bring a real community feel back into the town.

“There’s a real buzz about the event and I’m delighted with the variety and quality of acts we are able to bring to Chorley again this year,” he said.

“You can’t get much for £5 these days so to have two evenings of live entertainment with 236 performances to choose from is great value – it’s like Glastonbury but without the mud!

“We are trying to bring the whole community together to create something special that we can build on in Chorley for years to come.

“We’ve heard lots of people talking about it, and we've run out of wristbands every year, so don’t miss out – get your wristband now and tell your family and friends all about it.”

The event is on Friday and Saturday October 7 and 8 with live performances at 7pm, 8pm, 9pm and 10pm at each venue.

Wristbands are on sale at each venue, from the acts taking part, the council’s offices on Union Street.  More details, including full schedules, can be found at the brand new Chorley Live-dedicated Website: Chorleylive.com. A programme containing details of all the performances is now available both online and at all the venues.
