Gift of free parking this Christmas

8 December 2015

Fancy a spot of free parking this Christmas?

Why not head to Leyland or Lostock Hall where South Ribble Borough Council is waiving the charges on its car parks right up until and including Christmas Eve.

The scheme will start on Monday, December 7 and free parking will be available each day from 10am at five different car parks.

They are: Ecroyd Street, Sumner Street, King Street and Churchill Way in Leyland and Hope Terrace in Lostock Hall.

This is the fifth year that South Ribble Borough Council has rolled out the scheme to help give residents and businesses a helping hand in the run up to Christmas.

Councillor Warren Bennett, South Ribble Borough Council’s Deputy Leader and cabinet member with responsibility for Finance and Resources, said: “Free parking at Christmas has become a popular tradition with our residents and shoppers over the past few years and we are happy to be able to give our businesses a boost at this busy time of year.

“We have some really great shops on our high streets and I would urge residents to think about avoiding the hustle and bustle of busy city centres and to instead support their local shops this Christmas.

“It’s really important to us at South Ribble Borough Council to support our businesses and by offering free parking we are able to do this at the same time as saving residents money.”
