New Masterclass Offers Financial Confidence Boost for Wyre Businesses

22 May 2026

Wyre businesses are invited to book their place for an upcoming finance masterclass designed to support confident decision-making and help maintain healthy, sustainable growth.

Balancing the Books is a practical business networking and learning event taking place on Wednesday 17 June, 5.30pm at the Civic Centre, Poulton.

Delivered by Brown & Co, one of Wyre’s established accountancy firms, the session is aimed at SME owners, CEOs, directors and micro‑businesses looking to strengthen their understanding of costs, cash flow and long-term financial stability.

The masterclass will be led by two experienced members of the firm. Chris Brown, Founder and Managing Director of Brown & Co, brings nearly 30 years’ experience advising growing businesses. Having started his career at KPMG, Chris established Brown & Co with a focus on making finance accessible, practical and easy to understand for business owners.

He will be joined by Jake Ashurst, a Chartered Certified Accountant with over 14 years’ experience. Jake leads Brown & Co’s corporate team and works closely with businesses to help them improve efficiency, manage risk and grow in a sustainable way.

This interactive session is designed to be practical and approachable, offering useful insights rather than complex theory. It will explore the importance of financial awareness, how a clearer understanding of costs can support profitability, and why effective cash flow management remains essential for any business.

Attendees will leave with greater confidence in their finances, a clearer picture of how their business is performing, and practical tools they can begin using straight away, including a complimentary cash-flow forecasting tool tailored for SMEs.

Councillor Peter Le Marinel, Portfolio Holder for Planning Policy and Economic Development for Wyre Council, said: “We’re really pleased to be able to offer this opportunity to support Wyre’s businesses. This masterclass is a great chance for local business owners to build their confidence in managing finances, gain practical insights and connect with others in the area.”

With many businesses navigating rising costs and ongoing uncertainty, this session offers a valuable opportunity to step back, review finances and connect with others in the local business community.

Tickets are £15 per person, including locally sourced food and refreshments, with networking available until 8.30pm. Places are limited, so early booking is recommended: buytickets.at/wyrecouncil/2216307
