Prestigious National Award Win for Lancashire Pubs
Thwaites Inns of Character has been announced as a winner at the prestigious Publican Awards 2013.
Leading Northern-brewer Thwaites which currently has six Inns of Character in its growing portfolio has been awarded the title in the Best Accommodation category at a glittering awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. The award follows success last year for Thwaites Pub Company in the best tenanted/leased pub company category.
More than 1,100 people attended the biggest event in the pub industry calendar. The Publican Awards recognise the achievements of top pub companies across 18 categories.
The team from Thwaites Inns of Character beat off intense competition to become one of four companies to make it onto the final shortlist.
Thwaites Inns of Character aim to revive the traditional aspects of ‘inn-keeping’ with strong emphasis on exceptional hospitality, good quality en suite bedrooms, locally sourced food and a great range of cask ales and fine wines. The Inns are The Millstone at Mellor, The Lister Arms at Malham, The Lion at Settle, The Inn at Keswick, The Fleece at Cirencester and Penny Street Bridge in Lancaster.
The rigorous judging process included site visits by members of the judging team, mystery site visits to finalists’ outlets and research interviews. The final stage of judging involved a panel interview with in-depth quizzing of all shortlisted finalists by industry experts, City analysts, journalists and industry body chiefs.
Sorcha Drakeford, operations director for Thwaites Inns of Character said: “This is great news and a major achievement for us. The judging process was very intensive so to have been crowned overall category winner is fantastic. And to follow-on from our success in these awards last year it feels even better!
“This award reflects the tremendous effort of all of the team involved and is testament to the genuine team spirit we have built and all the hard work that has gone into making our Thwaites Inns of Character such a success with customers. We have big plans moving forward with new sites under development in York and Solihull and a number of other locations in the pipeline so to receive such high level industry recognition is very satisfying. We are keen to attract enthusiastic individuals who want to succeed and this gives a very positive message to anyone considering a career with us .
