Lancashire Business View made its own headlines last week as it triumphed in the ‘news and magazine’ category at the prestigious Prolific North Awards.

The award was announced at a ceremony held at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester on 24 May.

The gala event celebrated excellence in the creative and media industries across the North and was attended by more than 800 guests and leading players in the sector from across the region.

There was more success on the night for Lancashire, with Wash Studio in Preston lifting the ‘broadcasting programme – commercial/ advertising’ award.

Richard Slater, publisher, who founded Lancashire Business View in 2005, said: “We have been flying the flag for high-quality independent publishing for nearly 15 years.

“The award is down to the hard work of our enthusiastic team who are bursting with ideas and energy.

“But it is also testament to the strength of Lancashire’s fantastic business community, who we are very proud to serve and to champion. They make what we do possible and we thank them.”

The award caps an exciting year of growth for the Blackburn-based team, which has seen significant investment in the redesigns of the print magazine and website.

Lancashire Business View also launched ‘Buy it in Lancashire’, the campaign to bring £1bn of spend into the county by persuading Lancashire procurers to purchase more from Lancashire suppliers.

The bi-monthly print magazine, with its 30,000 readers, is at the heart of the operation, and the stable of media products also includes a daily updated website; an innovative facility for readers to self-upload stories to LBV Hub; and bulletins issued to more than 12,000 online subscribers.

In addition, Lancashire Business View has developed an extensive programme of events in the county including the national award-winning Red Rose Awards; the Sub36 networking and awards programme for younger people in business; Lancashire Business Day celebrations; regular networking opportunities; and a host of sector and sub-region events.

Wash Studio won its award for its work with Hyundai on the brand launch campaign ‘Turning Petrol Heads.’

A panel of industry leaders and experts determined the shortlist across the 27 categories. The awards ceremony was hosted by BBC broadcaster Will Perry.
