Preston-made hyperbaric chamber installed in children’s school

A firm based in Newton, near Preston, Lancashire has delivered an important new addition to a children’s special needs school in Manchester.

Submarine Manufacturing and Products Ltd (SMP Ltd) has designed, manufactured and installed a bespoke, fully automatic, 6 seat HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) chamber to deliver much needed Oxygen Therapy treatments to school pupils and the wider community.

Currently pupils at this school have been having to go to A Breath for Life Centre in Morecambe, so one dedicated mother has teamed up with SMP Ltd to help realise the dream of opening a centre on their doorstep.
The chamber has been specifically designed to be as ‘child friendly’ as possible but has significant engineering detail to ensure that it is at the forefront of modern design.

Chris Keith a Consultant at SMP Ltd said “SMP have been integral throughout the whole process from initial proposal, building layout & design, engineering and have now reached an important milestone and completed the Factory Acceptance Testing, whilst organising and ensuring that the site preparation has also been progressing with the delivery of the modular building system.”

Chris continued “These have just been delivered and placed over the chamber creating a beautiful new space for the installation and commissioning of the supporting machinery that includes an Oxygen Generation System to enable them to be fully self-sufficient which is the next stage to commence.”

SMP Ltd are very proud to have been selected to deliver this project and look forward to the opening of this facility.
