Wings & Wonders:Blackpool’s New Heritage Duo Takes Off

Two of Blackpool’s top-rated attractions – Spitfire Visitor Centre and Showtown Museum, join forces to offer a new, discounted joint ticket celebrating the town’s rich history.
This new partnership offers visitors an unforgettable cultural day out this summer and beyond.
The ‘Wings & Wonders’ ticket is a brand-new combo ticket that gives visitors access to both the Spitfire Visitor Centre and Showtown Museum – with over 25% off standard admission.
Together, these 5-star TripAdvisor-rated attractions offer an immersive, family-friendly experience into the wartime and entertainment history of Blackpool. From the roar of a restored Spitfire fighter plane to the glittering lights of Blackpool’s golden entertainment age, ‘Wings & Wonders’ is a journey through the stories that shaped this proud seaside town.
A quality day out for all ages

This partnership shines a light on the heritage heart of Blackpool, offering an alternative day out filled with learning, discovery and fun. With interactive exhibitions, award-winning storytelling and engaging displays, both attractions are suited for families, school groups, couples and culture lovers alike.
We encourage visitors to make use of Blackpool’s iconic tramway to travel between the two attractions. It’s a smooth, scenic ride from North Pier (just steps from Showtown) to Squires Gate (near the Spitfire Visitor Centre) making it easy to enjoy both experiences in one day, or across a relaxed 7-day window.
John Coombes, Director at Spitfire Visitor Centre said:
“The links to the Royal Air Force are strong in Blackpool, with the town being recognised as RAF Station Blackpool, during the war years, with over 832,000 allied troops passing through training in the resort. We are delighted to link with Showtown and expand on their story, by transporting fans of nostalgia back to the realities of life in Blackpool during WW2.”
Spencer Phillips, Chairman at Showtown said:
“We’re thrilled to launch the ‘Wings & Wonders’ partnership, a celebration of Blackpool’s resilience, creativity and community spirit. This joint ticket brings together two powerful sides of our town’s story. It’s about making heritage accessible, engaging and relevant for new generations.”

A timely connection: 80 years since the end of WW2.
The partnership launch is especially poignant in 2025 as the UK marks 80 years since the end of the Second World War.
The Spitfire Visitor Centre specialises in wartime aviation history, housing authentic aircraft and personal stories from the frontline and home front. On one weekend per month they also host 2 seat Spitfire flight experiences.
Meanwhile, Showtown Museum is currently home to ‘Wartime Blackpool’, a temporary exhibition exploring the town’s extraordinary role in WW2 – from housing RAF training schools to hosting thousands of evacuated children.
Due to popular demand and to mark this new partnership, the exhibition has now been extended until Remembrance Sunday, 9th November, giving visitors even more time to explore Blackpool’s wartime past and plan a Wings & Wonders visit!
