#MYLANCASHIRE Campaign & Photography Competition

#MYLANCASHIRE is an overarching social media campaign that we will be running over the next twelve months. It is designed to capture the imagination of the visitor and demonstrate the great choice of standout experiences that different audiences are able to enjoy when they come to the county. It will re-enforce Visit Lancashire’s strapline – where life feels good.

So much to choose from whatever your interest; is it an adrenaline fuelled mountain bike ride through Gisburn Forest, learning the dark history of Lancaster Castle, enjoying local produce in Michelin rated surroundings, screaming out loud on one of Blackpool’s many thrill seeking rides, walking up Pendle hill on a clear day and taking in the breath-taking 360 degree views.

The campaign aims to raise the profile of Lancashire as a short break destination and has its own campaign page on our Visit Lancashire website.

Photography competition

All images submitted using #MYLANCASHIRE will be entered into our photography competition and subject to terms and conditions.

Each month a winning image will be selected and take pride of place on the homepage of VisitLancashire.com.

How can partners get involved?

Simply create your own Lancashire experience.  Upload an image to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and add #MYLANCASHIRE in your tweet, or post and tag in @VisitLancashire.

The easiest way to judge if it’s a great experience is to ask yourself, is this worth shouting about.

There are a number of ways to engage and add momentum to the campaign:

  • Use #MYLANCASHIRE on your social media channels to share your business’ favourite Lancashire experiences
  • Encourage friends, family and employees to engage by sharing their favourite Lancashire experiences on social media with striking images and stories using the hashtag #MYLANCASHIRE
  • Write a short blog on your perfect day in Lancashire, where you like to go, what you like to do to help build itineraries – share with us and your channels
  • Carry the campaign strapline #MYLANCASHIRE on all communications
  • Provide your own #MYLANCASHIRE moment through personal channels

What makes a #MYLANCASHIRE moment?

A #MYLANCASHIRE moment is what is special to you. It can be anything, which conveys that emotion to you.

The theme of ‘My Lancashire’ allows for a huge amount of choice whatever your interests are, from active outdoors to visiting galleries and museums, fine dining to quality farmers markets. We are keen to see the whole range of experiences, from afternoon tea in The Blackpool Tower ballroom to taking a picnic as you immerse yourself in the story around you of the UK’s only walkabout theatre. These experiences capture intense and exciting moments featuring the newly discovered, secrets of Lancashire.

Getting your consumers involved

As well as creating your own #MYLANCASHIRE moments, encourage your visitors to create and share their own experiences too. Add a small sign next to an exhibit or on an advert, invite through social media to encourage social sharing. If you own a pub, restaurant or venue add a reminder to share their experience, or as a gateway to an incredible view, use an information board to remind people to capture the view and share through social media.
