Fancy a turn at the wheel?

24 April 2017

The Old Stables at Hipping Hall, in Lancashire is set to launch a selection of creative mid-week getaways…

The top foodie bolthole has teamed up with a selection of leading artisan crafts people, to offer guests the opportunity to mix good food with the chance to learn some new skills…

Hipping’s first creative break launches this summer on 11th June with a residential pottery masterclass led by leading ceramicists Martin and Siobhan Miles-Moore…

It doesn't matter how much potting experience you have – total beginner or happy hobby potter Martin and Siobhan have heaps of experience and will be on hand to offer one to one guidance throughout.

There are just ten places on each pottery class, which means you get plenty of opportunity to learn under the watchful eye of experienced potters Martin Miles-Moore and his wife Siobhan.

The course is structured to encourage everyone to think about their surroundings and to use their senses to help them create unique pieces of work during their stay in this beautiful part of the world.

Each potter will get one to one tuition using the wheel to create and finish a piece, as well as having the opportunity to hand build a piece too. During their stay students, will have the opportunity to pick up hints and tips from the experts and put them into practice, including techniques such as Raku and Sgraffito.

During the course, each student will:

•         decorate and fire a Raku vase
•         throw and finish a bowl
•         make and decorate a bonbon dish
