University of Lancashire multiple subjects ranked in country’s top ten
The University of Lancashire continues to demonstrate a breadth of excellent provision across a wide range of creative, health and professional disciplines that will be required to power the future UK economy.
The latest Guardian University Guide placed 12 subjects as being within the top ten in the country. This included Product Design which ranked first as well as Fashion and Textiles, Journalism and Film Production and Photography which all ranked second. In their respective categories, Graphic Design placed third, Drama and Dance placed fourth and Forensic Science fifth. Children’s Nursing, Midwifery, and Sports Science made the top 10 for their subjects for the first time.
Overall, the University of Lancashire saw a 21-place rise, and importantly, the third consecutive year of position improvement in this table, now ranking 77th place nationally.
University of Lancashire Vice-Chancellor Professor Graham Baldwin OBE DL said: “The Guardian League Table results show that we are building momentum and strengthening our position within the UK higher education sector.
“The improvement reflects strong progress across a number of key measures that contribute to the Guardian’s league table, including student satisfaction, teaching quality, graduate outcomes and continuation rates.”
The University continues to perform strongly in areas that matter most to students:
- 86.9% student satisfaction with teaching
- 84.5% satisfaction with assessment and feedback
- 78% graduate career prospects
“Our academics and staff continue to improve our teaching, research and knowledge exchange and student experience with the goal of improving all our graduates’ long term career prospects,” added Professor Baldwin.
The University secured top 10 positions in:
Product Design – 1st
Fashion and Textiles – 2nd
Journalism – 2nd
Film Production and photography – 2nd
Graphic Design – 3rd
Drama and Dance – 4th
Forensic Science – 5th
Children’s Nursing – 6th
Midwifery – 6th
Sports Science – 6th
Hospitality, Event Management and Tourism – 8th
