First visit to the Midland Hotel for tourist board’s directors

4 September 2008

THE directors of Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board made their first visit to the Midland Hotel in Morecambe on Tuesday September 2 when they attended their regular, quarterly meeting. The directors hold their meetings at various venues across the county. Tourist board chair Lesley Lloyd and chief executive Mike Wilkinson were among the 18 directors and staff welcomed by the Midland Hotel’s general manager Matt Redhead and his team. The directors were able to experience the Midland’s conference facilities, meeting in one of the function rooms and then taking a buffet lunch in the Oliver Hill room, named after the hotel’s architect. Among the items discussed was an update on Taste Lancashire 08 – the Year of Food and Drink, co-ordinated by the tourist board. The directors were particularly pleased to see so much quality local food on the Midland’s various menus. The Midland Hotel reopened in June following the completion of its transformation by Urban Splash.
