New Wavelengths Studio opens in Pendle
Pendle Leisure Trust, in partnership with Pendle Borough Council, is proud to announce the official opening of the brand-new studio at Pendle Wavelengths – just in time for an exciting community Open Weekend on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June.

The studio, funded by Nelson Town Deal, was formally opened by Councillor Asjad Mahmood, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, alongside Stephen Barnes, Chair of the Nelson Town Deal Board, marking a major milestone for leisure and wellbeing in the borough.
They were joined by representatives from Pendle Leisure Trust, including CEO, Simon Gwynne, Business Development Manager, Paul Whittaker and Pendle Wavelengths Centre Manager, Shaun Grant.
To celebrate, Pendle Wavelengths is inviting the whole community to experience everything the new studio and Wavelengths has to offer with a free, action-packed Open Weekend.
Visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities across both days, including family swim sessions, live demonstrations, taster classes, and exclusive first looks at brand-new facilities throughout the weekend.
Completed in early May, the new studio represents a significant investment in Pendle’s health and wellbeing offer.
Councillor Asjad Mahmood, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, said: “The opening of this fantastic new studio demonstrates our commitment to improving health, wellbeing and leisure opportunities for residents.
“Thanks to funding from the Nelson Town Deal, we have been able to create a modern, inclusive space that will benefit people of all ages and abilities, encouraging them to move more, feel better, and stay active for years to come.”
The new provisions include Reformer Pilates, a low-impact, full-body workout designed to improve strength, flexibility, posture, and mental wellbeing.
Also launching at Wavelengths is XR2, the hugely popular group fitness programme combining strength, conditioning, and cardio in a high-energy workout environment.
The studio will also host sessions from Up & Active, providing supportive, accessible activities tailored for those managing long-term health conditions—helping to build confidence and encourage regular movement.
Adding a unique and interactive dimension, visitors can experience PlayLü, an innovative system transforming spaces into immersive, digital environments. Designed particularly for younger users, PlayLü blends technology, play, and physical activity, making movement fun, engaging, and accessible.
The Open Weekend offers the first opportunity for the public to explore these exciting new features first hand, meet the team, and see how the facility will benefit the community for years to come.
Simon Gwynne, CEO of Pendle Leisure Trust, said: “We’re thrilled to officially open the new studio and even more excited to welcome the community in for our Open Weekend.
“This is a chance for people to come along, try something new, and experience everything this fantastic new space has to offer.
“We hope it gives even more people a reason to visit Nelson and get involved in becoming more active.”
Stephen Barnes, Chair of Nelson Town Deal Board, added: “This new studio is a fantastic example of how Nelson Town Deal funding is helping to deliver meaningful improvements for local people.
“It is particularly pleasing to see such a wide range of activities on offer, ensuring the space is accessible and appealing to people of all ages and abilities.”
