Power to electric car drivers at The Mall Blackburn!

5 June 2019

Drivers of electric or hybrid vehicles can now park and charge at The Mall Blackburn.

The shopping centre has introduced two 7kWh electric charging points to its car park and drivers can charge their vehicles for just 25p per kilowatt hour.

Located next to the Inter Car Cleaning service in between the Church Street and Exchange Street entrances, the spaces have already been a big hit with eco-conscious drivers.

In just one week drivers using the new charging points made a Co2 saving of half a  tonne and powered more than 2,500 electric vehicle miles – the approximate driving distance from Blackburn to Bodrum in Turkey!

Loraine Jones, General Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “We are thrilled to be able to offer this service to our shoppers and we have had fantastic feedback from people who have used them.

“It is great to be able to park up and charge while enjoying some shopping and a bite to eat, knowing that your car will be ready to go when you are!”

Shoppers wishing to use the electric car charging points can register with Swarco E.Connect online at https://www.swarcoeconnect.org/ or by telephone on 02085158444.

The Mall Blackburn’s car park is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and was recently names one of the safest in the country in the nationwide Park Mark Accreditation scheme.
