The Health Club at Ribby Hall Village has won the award of Health Club of the Year at the National Fitness Awards held in Leicester on Friday 29th November, fighting off strong UK-wide competition.

The Health Club of the Year title was the most prestigious award of the night and is given in recognition of an establishment’s all-round excellence. Judges were impressed with the facilities, comprehensive class timetable, personal training, expertise of staff and the social spaces offered by the Health Club at Ribby Hall Village.

Not content with picking up the most sought-after accolade of the night, the Wrea Green based Health Club also won the award for Best Customer Service, in this national award scheme designed to recognise excellence and innovation in the fitness industry.

The Health Club went through a rigorous assessment process, which included a visit by an assessor who toured the facilities, spoke to members and staff, and examined all areas of the business from member retention to customer service. Detailed reports were then compiled and passed on to an expert judging panel, who selected the eventual winners.

“To win Health Club of the Year is such an achievement and I can’t tell you how delighted we all are,” says Health Club Duty Manager, James Mitchell. “Our whole team works really hard to ensure the Health Club delivers on every level, from providing the very best facilities and group fitness programmes, to dedicated staff who make every single member feel welcome.”

Commenting on the Customer Service award, James says: “We’re all fully committed to delivering excellence in customer service, from a welcoming smile in reception right down to providing expert training advice in the gym. Winning this award means the world to us and we will certainly continue to ensure that all our members enjoy every minute they spend in our Health Club.”

James and nine of his colleagues were at the awards ceremony at the Athena Conference Centre in Leicester when the winners were announced.

The Health Club currently runs over 100 group fitness classes, across four dedicated group fitness studios, a 25m adult only pool and a sports hall, and employs over fifty trained instructors to deliver the sessions. Classes include Stages Cycling, Zumba, three types of Yoga, Aerial Pilates, Trigger Point Pilates, BarreConcept, Kettlercise, Interval training, Aqua, BodyPump, Circuits, BlockFit, Karate, Boxercise and many more.

The Health Club has an online booking system and even offers a free crèche facility for members, which runs alongside morning classes to provide fitness and exercise opportunities for parents of pre-school children.

Additional facilities at The Health Club include a huge family leisure pool, soft play area, Intersport Activate Sports Store, a coffee shop, sports bar, sauna and steam room. As well as the gym and fitness classes, the Club offers tennis, squash, badminton, table tennis, golf, a range of junior classes and swimming lessons.
