Keith Lemon To Switch On Blackpool Illuminations

Monday, 15th August 2011

Real Radio, Smooth Radio and visitBlackpool are delighted to announce TV’s hottest funny man, Mr Keith Lemon as the Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On artist for 2011.

Joining Keith Lemon in this final wave of announcements for Blackpool’s party of the year are multi-million selling artists Scouting For Girls and the queen of ‘UK Soul,’ Miss Beverley Knight along with former Savage Garden frontman Darren Hayes and X-Factor ‘Man Band,’ The Reason 4.

Keith Lemon is one of the many alter-ego’s from the mind of comedy genius, Leigh Francis. Currently in his third year with the massively successful ‘Celebrity Juice’ he’s responsible for such iconic TV shows as ‘Bo' Selecta!’ ‘A Bear's Tail’, Keith’s first solo show, the brilliantly funny, and perfectly executed travel log, ‘Keith Lemon's Very Brilliant World Tour’. He also appeared on Big Brother's Little Brother and Big Brother's Big Mouth, as a judge on Let's Dance for Comic Relief this year, co-presented ‘Sing If You Can’ with Stacey Solomon, made regular appearances on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here Now! and is the agony uncle on This Morning.

Keith said “I've dreamed of turning t' Blackpool Lights on ever since I could reach the light switch in me mam's front room. Me teacher at school said I was fick. I might be, but I know how to turn a light switch on and now that knowledge is gonna come in handy.” He concluded in his own inimitable way; “Can't wait to come to Blackpool and turn you all on! Oooosh! Sha-ting!”

Joining Keith in the line-up are top chart band Scouting for Girls who have a string of top ten singles including the monsters ‘She’s So Lovely, ‘Elvis Ain't Dead’ ‘Heartbeat’ and the #1 smash it ‘This Ain't a Love Song’ show that Scouting For Girls are a band at the top of their game!

Beverley Knight is a fantastic addition to this year’s line-up and a simply stunning live performer. Currently promoting her 7th album, ‘Soul UK’ and single ‘Cuddly Toy’ Beverley will bring the party to The Big Switch-on; fact!

Having sold a staggering 25 million records to date, we are delighted to announce former member of Savage Garden, Darren Hayes to the line up with The X-Factor’s The Reason 4, who are wowing audiences across the UK. And last but not least we present the stunning operatic voice of Wynne Evans. Wynne is known to any household with a TV as he is no other than Gio Compario, the larger than life moustachioed singer from the ‘Go Compare’ commercials. Though, tonight Wynne will leave you in no doubt that when it comes to an incredible voice; there is ‘no compare’ to him!

This announcement completes a fantastic line-up for ‘The Big Switch On Party 2011’ as these names join James Morrison, Pixie Lott, Joe McElderry, Olly Murs, Paul Carrack, Wonderland and The Overtones for what promises to be a fantastic night to remember.
