Marketing Lancashire New Associate Director

Wednesday, 13th January 2016

Marketing Lancashire has appointed Melanie Sensicle, an experienced professional in the field of destination management, organisational development and partnership working, to the role of Associate Director.

Melanie’s work helped transform the marketing of destinations such as Brighton and Durham.  As the first Chief Executive of Visit County Durham she set up the company in 2006 and developed it into one of the leading destination management organisations in England, recognised for best practice in sustainable tourism development, destination management, innovation in visitor services and rural tourism development.  She left Visit County Durham in spring 2015 to run her own consultancy.

Speaking about the appointment Ruth Connor, Chief Executive of Marketing Lancashire said

“Melanie has already brought her wealth of experience to the development of the new Visitor Economy Strategy and destination management plan for Lancashire, which will be launched shortly.  Her strategic planning, support and experience of partnership working has made a significant contribution to Marketing Lancashire and, going forward, her insight and expertise will be a great asset to the team.”

Melanie’s clients include Visit England for whom she acts as programme director for the Northern Tourism Growth Fund in which Marketing Lancashire is a key partner, which promotes the North of England to key international markets as part of the Northern Powerhouse. She is a Fellow of the Tourism Management Institute and chair of the consortium of England’s Heritage Cities, who work together to represent the heritage agenda nationally and to work on joint projects.
