National Accessible Scheme

Many guests may have some form of disadvantage or disability that might hinder them from fully enjoying or participating in the visitor experience.

There is a voluntary scheme known as the National Accessible Scheme (NAS) which aims to help tourism service providers become more aware of the requirements of disabled or disadvantaged guests covering three types of impairment – mobility, hearing and visual.

NAS will help your business to identify changes you can make to your business to provide a more accessible service to your visitor and may include simple changes such as:

• Handrails, ramps and step free areas
• Colour designs to assist visually impaired guests
• Specially adapted bathrooms / wet rooms
• Wider areas around beds and dining rooms
